Brother, no one forces Muslims to give Zakah and it goes to poor people exclusively. If this is not charity, then what is? It's internationally recognized to be charity. Taxes in Islam are called "jizyah". I am sorry that you seem to have an anti-Islam bias and hope that we can come to a mutual understanding.

عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ خَادِمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه و سلم قَالَ: "لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ".

An-Nawawi comments on this tradition, saying:

الأولى أن يحمل ذلك على عموم الأخوة حتى يشمل الكافر والمسلم فيحب لأخيه الكافر ما يحب لنفسه من دخوله في الإسلام كما يحب لأخيه المسلم دوامه على الإسلام ولهذا كان الدعاء بالهداية للكافر مستحبا والمراد بالمحبة إرادة الخير والمنفعة ثم المراد المحبة الدينية لا المحبة البشرية
This is interpreted as brotherhood in general, such that it includes the non-Muslim and the Muslim. So he should love for his brother, the non-Muslim, what he loves for himself which is his entering Islam, just as he should love for his brother Muslim that he remains in Islam. For this reason, it is recommended to supplicate for the disbeliever to be guided. The meaning of love here is an intention for good and benefit, and this meaning is religious love, not human love.

The absolute best one that I have found is, "The Noble Life of the Prophet" by Dr. 'Alī al-Sallābī حفظه الله. It is an in-depth three volume set which attempts to draw all the lessons from the previous major books of Sīrah while also critically evaluating sources.
