One day you'll realize the mistake you've made. What will have become of us then?

Been happening to young Muslim Americans for 30 years. Orwellian state gone mainstream

r/CompTIA

Congrats! I think it's harder than Sec+ just because it is so boring. Linux+ was definitely more difficult but I found it more interesting so I didn't mind as much. I put this one off for 2 years. CIDR subnet masks and numbers give me the ick

CompTIA considers Security+ a higher cert than Network+, so if you do that one first it will not be renewed by Network+ (happened to me, my Sec+ expired). Sec+ is definitely the easier one because it is more interesting and there are less granular details. Net+ requires memorizing some charts for subnetting and CIDR notations. Most people don't do well committing numbers to memory. Sec+ has a lot of concepts that deal with adversarial situations in IT, which is more engaging than thinking about trunk switches.

If you are planning to stop with the trifecta, do Sec+ last so your Net+ will renew it. Otherwise, go for Sec+ first, since it will also help with the cybersecurity questions on the Net+.

You shouldn't be down, you should be celebrating. Take it easy! This is a win, not a loss. You got this. The first of many certificates. I don't think there's a CompTIA exam I took that I wasn't SURE I failed by the end, but I haven't failed one yet. Neither will you! God speed

Good on them for having some moral intelligence alongside their technical skills. Your job is not worth your values/belief system, and is certainly not worth the lives of other people

The whole idea of virtue signaling is that you take moral/ethical positions without consequence for social gain. They faced real consequences (arrest & being fired) for negative social gain (losing status as a FAANG engineer, being fired). This is an actual nonviolent moral action.

Obviously the conflict is more complicated than one sentence but what is uncomplicated is that it is unethical to support genocide or to stay silent about it. Israel is engaged in a genocide, that part is black-&-white.

Low moral intelligence comment. "Job money good lose job money bad." Typical blind Capitalist superficial materialist perspective.

People should be shamed more for being unintelligent ethically than any other kind of lack of intelligence. Having good programming or systems design skills doesn't make you a worthwhile human, and neither does making 500k TC. In fact, in this case, it can make you a genuinely bad person.

You realize Israel is massacring civilians en masse who are, by definition, guiltless? These are not combatants. No one is up in arms about them fighting their enemy. The issue is: women, children, elderly, and people who are not involved at all. That's the whole international outcry.

I hate that they ruined the design with the 801. They should have just done a rerelease with a greater displacement.

r/infj

An extremely large amount of people are damaged and dysfunctional nowadays. Statistically, it may even be the majority. INFJ have a tendency to have deep passionate relationships and also try to help/fix people, whereas a lot of people are skimming by on superficial relationships that only worsen their issues.

You have to be very very selective who you invest in and who you open up to, and that means adapting some qualities that go against your nature: quickly tossing people aside if need be.

It goes against our nature to want to help. However, if a person is actively resisting your help or straight up using you, YOUR well being and future as a person who helps others trumps theirs.

You can but a frother works much better. The whisk seems to only serve a ceremonial purpose, otherwise a $7 frother will always do a better job.

r/metalgearsolid

Without the experimentation and unique design of portable Ops the Metal Gear series would have never went in the direction that it did. Peace Walker was like a direct design/story sequel to Portable Ops, down to the cutscene art-style, and MGSV was a direct sequel to PW incorporating the huge open-world game design movement

I think brothers complaining have an issue with the barrier to entry of marriage nowadays, not with the traditional gender roles per se. Yes, society also makes them ill-equipped for those as well, and immature generally (especially Muslim communities in the West, but we're not ready for that discussion). The problem is that everything has become incredibly difficult nowadays: getting a degree, getting a decent job, renting a place (let alone ownership), owning a vehicle, being physically fit, mentally healthy, Islamically educated, good character, well-dressed, having your own fulfillment, etc. are things which simply out of reach for most people under 30 as a class.

You may be able to get a few of them, but expecting a young man to have all of them before he can even start his life with his partner is honestly ridiculous. It seems there is a change in expectations with Gen Z and they are getting married at younger ages, but Zillenials and Millenials definitely have had a hard go of it.

In the past, young men were invested in because they were expected to be the backbone of the community in the future. The investment of the Muslim community in young Muslim men is either nonexistent or they are actually ostracized, so it's no wonder that they are frustrated. It's part of a wider disenfranchisement of young men in the West, hence the backlash with men's rights, redpill, and other similar movements.

This is a major issue as well because the amount of pressure that success takes can make a lot of brothers volatile and angry even when they DO get married. Sisters don't want to be objectified or seen as disposable/replaceable but when you are a fairweather spouse - that's literally what you have selected. Refusing to invest in someone who is still figuring it out is guaranteeing to get a man who will keep you at a distance and drop you like a hot potato at the first sign of trouble. It's investment 101.

r/MuslimLounge

The sahabah were rooting for the Christians Byzantines to defeat the polytheist Persians because Christianity was closer to Islam than Zoroastrianism - despite both being considered shirk. Red pill is a secular patriarchal reaction to feminism, which is closer to Islam in that it is both patriarchal and accepts the realities of gender dynamics. However, the problems with Red Pill are more of a problem of secular society generally than with that reaction to feminism.

The core of the issue is feminism, without feminism there is no need for a reactionary men's rights movement. The amount of sisters, and brothers, that are affected by feminism and feminist ideology in the West is absolutely insane - it includes sisters that are hafizhat, niqabiyyat, done 'alim programs, etc.

Muslim men have not only a right to react but an Islamic duty. Red pill is not the proper reaction because it is not indigenous to our tradition and it has many things that contradict Islam, but there has to be a clear and aggressive opposition to feminist ideology which is deeply rooted in the vast majority of Western Muslims.

If you follow Din, the example of the Prophet, you are still exposed to being totally destroyed by a seemingly religious sister. Modern society is designed to so heavily disadvantage men through the criminal and family court system that one accusation can destroy your life, and Muslim women are incentivized to take advantage of these systems (and they regularly do).

I think a lot of young Muslims are in denial because they chose to turn a blind eye or just don't know what some of these ostensibly very religious sisters are out here doing. There are sisters that complete Islamic education programs or have been niqabi for years that feel empowered to do the most reprehensible things to their husbands because years of discriminatory dehumanization of Muslim men, especially ethnic Muslim men, in the West. They have bought into this narrative, consciously or unconsciously, that Muslim men are worthless - and they leverage the full power of society/the state against them. The worst thing Red Pill Muslimbros are doing online is being disrespectful. There's no comparison, even if both are not per se Islamic.

Clearly it isn't exactly mainstream because I've gotten downvoted to oblivion unfortunately. A lot of brothers are just going to have to learn the hard way. Even myself, while I agreed with these ideas in theory, I did not learn their reality except from directly having traumatizing experiences with several sisters in sequence. There is something truly, deeply, wrong with Muslim communities in the West.

This is totally wrong. Just because he broke his fast doesn't mean he can eat or drink, he has to do imsak and stay away from all otherwise prohibited acts during the fast. Also there is no kaffarah for istinma' "masturbation" while fasting. He has to make up the day and repent, but kaffarah is for intercourse.

Please do not speak without knowledge of basic things

Marriage is something from Allah's Qadr, it's not something you can force. You can't expect to input hard work and effort, then out comes marriage. There are handsome, successful, righteous brothers that don't get married until their 30s from no fault of their own. Unfortunately we are in this impossible situation but we just do our best and hope Allah rewards us.

Yes but there is a whole other risk to trying to get married. There is real emotional danger, unlike studying or getting a job. You can innocently do everything right and put maximal effort into trying to get married, and end up incredibly damaged as a result. It isn't the same category, especially with the current marriage market. Society has produced a lot of narcissists and sociopaths in the clothing of Muslims.

The way I look at it, there are only four routes to knowledge: Revelation/faith, logic, natural ingrained human intuitions that are agreed on (time is real, for example), or systematic doubt/skepticism. Taleb is the most sophisticated living representative of the skeptical school, if not one of the most skeptical ones in history.

Admittedly, human mind is not wired at all to function from a skeptical perspective. Taleb does not live day-to-day by his ideas, that would ruin any human, just like the Pyrrhonic skeptics. He suggests rather that you apply this kind of systematic doubt where it matters the most: risk modeling the future. That much can be done.

Have you read Black Swan? He has long passages on skeptical empiricism. He has called himself a "radical skeptic."

I think a lot of the mainstream technology companies/techbros' push to adopt certain Web3 solutions was to alleviate concerns around the truly dystopian vision Zuckerberg presented as the future with "Meta." If the real world is going to be so uninhabitable that we exist in VR and AR spaces, of course we wouldn't want those companies having control over our digital assets. I don't think they expected such a visceral wide-scale reaction to the idea, which greatly harmed the Web3 ecosystem.

That being said there are still a ton of start-ups with billions of dollars in funding and it seems that, so long as cryptocurrencies are relevant, people are still going to be creating these solutions looking for problems to solve. Since Bitcoin and Ethereum are essentially mainstream, the idea and major tools of Web3 won't go anywhere for a long time.

Bar ends I ended up taking it to a shop to get the bolts out. I think at the bike shop when they manufactured it they put too much of that bolt glue-thing that makes them hard to turn.

Unfortunately I don't know enough about how bike wiring works to even think about embarking on a project like this. I have seen that Arjen guy on the Husqvarna forums, he switched out the dash on the old 701 but he said it was a nightmare.

My favorite WVG pieces have always been unique high quality fabrics with interesting textures/designs (peacoat, lounge pants 2.0, simone donegal sweater, suede wingtip sneakers, panda corduroys) and very high quality basics (peacoat, chinos, OCBDs, knit cardigans, etc.).

I would love to see more experimental fabrics/designs

It's called privilege. Privilege is one inportant component but not the only important component. Random chance, intelligence, hard work, physical attractiveness, geography, and other factors are also relevant. You max out what you can control and don't worry about what you can't
