Original discussion: why is the testimony of a woman worth half as.

The problem that you have with your reasoning is it flies in the face of the Ayah.

"They don't even need to talk to each other at all. A judge can bring up a witness and talk to that witness and if their stories don't add up, then it's an issue."

The Quran clearly mentions that the purpose of having 2 female witnesses is so that the female witnesses can remind each other. If what you said is true:

1. Why doesn't it mention that female and male witnesses can remind each other? Why explicitly say two men, or two women, so that the additional woman can remind the other one?
2. Why does it mention reminding each other?

You are saying, "actually women can remind men, and reminding doesn't even need to happen." This is directly contradictory not to my "reasoning" but to the wording if the Ayah.

Yes men and women can talk publicly for a limited need but there's a big difference between that and going over all of the fine details of a contract and having the story straight before going to court.

We agree there are different standards of evidence of testimony in different situations and the ulama only agree about this pertaining to financial contracts. That doesn't prove your point. Financial contracts until today are primarily performed by men. Even in the modern Western world. That's why the default is men and there are no two female witnesses.

Of course the hadith of naqisat aql adds more context. But that hadith mentions that the deficiency of intellect IS that the testimony is only counted as half. It mentions no additional deficiency. And as you alluded, in many circumstances a woman's testimony is the same as a man's or discounted entirely or in some rare circumstances preferred over a man's.
