A+ 1001
Took it yesterday and got a 704. Not the greatest score, but I passed! It was much harder than I expected, especially considering the preparation I did for it.
Previous Experience:
* Google IT Support Professional
* CompTIA ITF+
* An 8 hour blockchain cert
* Introduction to MATLAB
Study Materials:
* Full training program offered for free by my city, in-person then online due to COVID
* CertMetrics online Learn.CompTIA Course (practice questions and one practice exam)
* A+ Complete Review Guide (read like 1/5th of it and skimmed)
* Professor Messer Videos and Study Guide
I thought I did better than I did. I finished the entire exam with about 45 minutes to go and then went for the PBQ which I had skipped at first. I am not sure if you get one thing wrong on them if they mark the entire thing wrong. Three were networking, one was a matching. Two of the PBQ were identical, it seems to have been a mistake.
Since the program I am in won't give us the voucher for Core 2 until late January, I am going to go for the Cloud Essentials+ (it seems like there is a lot of overlap with A+ so I think it should be easy). If I finish that quickly, I will try to get the Linux PI Essentials and possibly the Sec+ (I have been reviewing for that long before I considered the A+ and it honestly seems easier due to having way less information).
Then I will go for the Core 2, which covers things I am much more familiar with already.
I would not recommend anyone watch Professor Messer videos without taking notes and think you can pass, which I did not do. I do not retain much information just from watching. The most important thing it seems, to me, is to actually read the textbook - especially if you can get the official CompTIA study guides (which I did not do).
