Health Chain-Reaction

r/CrohnsDisease · March 7, 2024

Hello Crohnies! I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when I was 7 years old. I have had very severe symptoms, but ultimately it was brought under control with Humira about 7 years ago.

I have noticed a strange chain-reaction and I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Although my Crohn's is generally under control, under periods of intense stress, I can have flare-ups. However, the flare-up is markedly different than it was before Humira.

First, I assume due to the inflammation, I have inguinal hernias surface. Then, for some reason, the pain and location of these hernias leads to panic attacks.

Stress -> flare -> hernias -> panic attacks.

Before this, I had more normal (although similarly rough) Crohn's symptoms.

I have tried to get the hernias spotted through tests but they are too small to show up? I am not 100% sure they are indeed hernias, however they are in the exact spot of inguinal hernias and I can somewhat push them back in.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?
