Empirical pragmatism has been one of the worst disasters for the human race. This post & people who agree with it are why we have the climate disaster, nuclear assured mutual mass destruction, the fertility crisis, and all of the other existential problems facing the human race. By advocating for science & technology without understanding the full ramifications of what we are doing, we have engineered the potential destruction of humanity.
When people were still debating epistemology & metaphysics, yes, we didn’t have some of the medical advances we have today – but the future of the human race was sustainable for the conceivable future.
By the way, the people making most of these advances are not pragmatists. They are techno-optimists, an objectively disprovable religious outlook.
