No. Traditional hadith methodology is extremely rigorous. The extant manuscript evidence we do have seems to point to the reliability of sahih hadith. The problem is that there is a gap in evidence and some clustering of narration origination. In no way does that prove that the hadith are “made up.” The methods that historical critical scholars use to criticize traditional hadith are latent with so many unresolved methodological problems & speculation that it’s difficult to parse through them and find any valid criticisms.
That being said, there are some valid criticisms. The research in this area is nascent. It requires scholars that thoroughly understand the gaps of the Western method, their critiques, and also are scholars of hadith sciences. A M. M. Azami for the new age, so to speak.
So far we have not seen that.
